Back from 12 days of hiking, 160km, 20 ticks, 3 hitchhiked lifts, 1 missing bag, 1 lost pot, 1 almost missed flight, several wildfires and some views.

On a hike like that one weirdly you don’t think as much as one would presume. You tune out your life, your problems, your everything. And even if you try thinking about some problem of yours: the only thing possible is having this one thing in your mind, not moving. But you get to your answers. Not by thinking. They seem to just jump at you. All of a sudden you have one of these clear moments. One problem overcome, one mystery resolved, one clear thought.

Best of all: You start paying attention to the small things again. A bed becomes luxury, kettles magic and your old work and projects fun.

Time to get out of here — taking my questions with me.

Let’s think about travel and distance.

Several thousand years ago the people build a tower which top should reach heaven. God feared after the tower would be finished nothing would seem impossible for them. So he descided to confuse their so far uniform language and scatter them all over the world. Therefore they couldn’t finish the tower and all the languages and distances came into the world.

So the question would be: Should mankind work and aim for one uniform language and short distances? Would it make the world a better place? Can we cope with all the problems of this would better if we would have only one language? No distances at all between everyone?

Is that one of the reasons why travel, connecting with other travelers, has so much power?

Isn’t backpacking trying to reach this in the small?

This project is about developing your very own thing from scratch. Emphasis on »developing«. Allowing for external influcences and own interests while finding a theme will be the heart of the next half year. Engaging myself on an yet unknown way to an unkown output.

Traveling. Input. Pace. And happiness. Pretty much the outline of my life. So to find out what all the fuss is about, I booked a flight on next saturday to Edinburgh, Scotland. I’ll hike for 12 days on the West Highland Way; 152.5km, 4499m elevation gain. The way is fairly well known so probably there will be travelers to ask on that topic.

I have prepared an update on Konstata. Now much tighter metrics and improved kerning, also added new characters like exclamation and question mark.

Konstata is a font for stencils. With only 10 different elements one can compose the whole typeface — rendering the creation of new stencils for each text superfluous.

Das Dyagnosis, die Geschichte des Gestiefelten Katers, dreimal neu erzählt, entfremdet sich auf allen Ebenen zusammen mit den Protagonisten bis zur völligen Dissoziation.

Das Dyagnosis; die Diagnose (griechisch ????????, diágnose, wörtlich „die Durchforschung“ im Sinne von „Unterscheidung“, „Entscheidung“, aus ???-, dia-, „durch-“ und ?????, gnóse, „die Erkenntnis“, „das Urteil“) ist in der Psychologie die genaue Zuordnung von Befunden, diagnostischen Zeichen oder Symptomen zu einem Krankheitsbegriff oder einer Symptomatik im Sinne eines Syndroms.

Im weiteren Sinn handelt es sich bei der Diagnose um die Klassifizierung von Phänomenen zu einer Kategorie und deren Interpretation, etwa denen der Gesundheit oder des Krankseins. Das Dyagnosis – ein Titel entnommen aus der letzten Version des Gestiefelten Katers in diesem Buch – untersucht genau auf diese Art und Weise das Wesen eines Grimmschen Märchens und seiner Protagonisten.

Entgegen der verbreiteten Interpretation, die Märchenbotschaft laute: Man kann sein Leben in die Hand nehmen und es zum Positiven verändern; interpretiert Der Gestiefelte Kater, Das Dyagnosis sprachlich und visuell das Märchen als das düstere Geschehen, dass es ist: Die schizophrene Abspaltung großer Teile der Psyche des Müllersohns in Form eines gestiefelten Katers. Einer Personifizierung, die fähig ist all jene unmenschlichen, tierischen Dinge für das Erreichen höchster materialistischer Ziele in einer kapitalistischen Ökonomie zu tun.

The quintessence of Nichtaktive Wurmlöcher is about the impossibility of authentic documentary photography. By showing completely unconscious and unintended views this is the closest way to give an authentic view into todays everyday life.
